Thane Police Confirm Survivor Was Driving BMW in Fatal 251 kmph Crash

The Thane police have confirmed that a viral video showing a BMW convertible's speedometer at 251 kmph was recorded moments before the car crashed on the Panvel–Vadodara highway near Badlapur in the early hours of Sunday. The accident resulted in two fatalities.

Angad Gill, 26, the sole survivor of the crash, remains in critical condition at a hospital. Senior Inspector Kailash Shinde of Badlapur West Police Station stated that it has now been established that Gill was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Initial reports had left uncertainty about which of the three occupants was behind the wheel. The police investigation, including analysis of the viral video and other evidence, led to the identification of Gill as the driver.

The crash occurred when the BMW, after hitting a divider, flipped several times and came to a halt. The incident highlights concerns about speeding on highways and the consequences of driving at extreme speeds.
