Telangana Mountaineer Padamati Anvitha Scales Denali, Nears Seven Summits Goal
Padamati Anvitha, a mountaineer from Telangana, has successfully scaled Mount Denali (6,190 metres), the highest peak in North America. This ascent marks her sixth summit in the Seven Summits Challenge, bringing her closer to becoming one of the few Indian women to conquer the highest peaks on all seven continents.
Ms. Anvitha reached the summit on June 19, according to her team. Born and raised in Bhongir, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, she has previously summited Mount Everest (8,849 m) in Asia, Mount Manaslu (8,163 m) in Nepal, Mount Vinson in Antarctica, Mount Elbrus in Europe, Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, and Mount Aconcagua in South America.
In addition to these international achievements, she has led expeditions to Indian peaks such as Mount Gorichen in Arunachal Pradesh and Mount Khadey in Ladakh. She is recognised as the first Indian to reach the true summit of Mount Manaslu and the first Indian to climb Mount Elbrus during winter, where she unfurled a 10-metre-long Indian tricolour at the summit.
Ms. Anvitha is currently associated with the Transcend Academy of Rock Climbing in Bhongir. Commenting on her Denali climb, she said every mountain teaches humility, patience and perseverance, and described carrying the Indian flag to the summit as a matter of immense pride.
