Telangana minister hands over ₹4.12 lakh ex gratia to family of murdered Dalit woman
JAGTIAL: Social Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar on Tuesday handed over a cheque for ₹4.12 lakh as ex gratia to the family of Karre Sunitha, a Dalit woman who was allegedly murdered in Metpalli a week ago. The minister met the bereaved family at Chintalapet village in Jagtial district and consoled them.
Sunitha was reportedly killed by an assailant, and the police are investigating the case. The minister assured the family that justice would be served and stringent action would be taken against those responsible. He also stated that the second instalment of compensation would be released as per government norms.
In addition, the government will take full responsibility for the education of Sunitha's two sons, the minister announced. The handover of the ex gratia payment is part of the state's scheme to provide immediate financial relief to families of victims of violent crimes.
