Telangana Land Allotment Row: Opposition Seeks Probe Into Deal Involving CM's Brother's Firm
A political controversy has erupted in Telangana over the allotment of industrial land to a company linked to the brother of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Opposition parties have accused the state government of favouritism and undervaluation, while the company has denied any wrongdoing, stating that the acquisition followed established procedures.
The dispute centres on approximately 20,234 square metres of land at Raviryala in Maheshwaram mandal, allotted by the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) to Tesseract Advanced Systems Pvt. Ltd. BRS leader M Krishank alleged that the land, valued at around Rs 135 crore, was allotted for roughly Rs 7.5 crore, a fraction of its estimated market worth. He further alleged that the beneficiary company is linked to Anumula Kondal, the Chief Minister's brother.
"Chief Minister Revanth allotting 20,234 sq metres of prime government land near Fourth City to his own brother's shell company is not misuse of office?" Krishank asked, demanding the Chief Minister's resignation if the allegations are proven.
The BJP also joined the attack, with MP D Arvind calling the alleged transaction "shameful, shameless, and unacceptable." He accused the Congress government of repeating land allotment practices associated with the previous BRS administration.
Responding to the allegations, Tesseract Advanced Systems said the land was acquired in full compliance with official guidelines. Speaking to NDTV, the company said the startup followed due process over 15 months and paid all required fees as per TGIIC norms.
The allegations have intensified political rivalry in the state, with the BRS and BJP seeking to corner the Congress government. Both parties have called for a transparent inquiry, arguing that public resources must not be used for private benefit. However, without official records or an independent investigation, the claims remain unsubstantiated.
TGIIC, a state-owned agency, is responsible for developing and managing industrial land and infrastructure across Telangana. Tesseract describes itself as an engineering and manufacturing company serving precision manufacturing needs, including in aerospace and defence sectors.
The opposition has demanded full disclosure of the allotment order, valuation details, eligibility criteria, and ownership information. Until such documents are made public, the allegations remain unverified. The controversy underscores the need for transparent procedures in the allocation of public land and for accountability in government decisions.
