Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulator Chairperson Shiv Das Meena and Two Members Resign

The chairperson of the Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA), Shiv Das Meena, along with two members, has resigned from their positions. The resignations were submitted to the state government, according to official sources.

Mr. Meena, a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1989 Tamil Nadu cadre, was appointed to the post on August 18, 2024, during the previous Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government. At the time of his appointment, he was serving as the Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu. Following his appointment, the then DMK government appointed N. Muruganandam as the new Chief Secretary.

The other two members who resigned are L. Subramanian and Sukumar Chittibabu. Mr. Subramanian is a retired IAS officer who held various positions in the state government. Mr. Chittibabu previously served as the City Revenue Officer of the Greater Chennai Corporation.

The reasons for the resignations have not been made public. The TNRERA is a statutory body established under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, to regulate the real estate sector in Tamil Nadu and protect homebuyers' interests.
