Tamil Nadu: Class XI Girl Stabbed by Stalker at Home in Chidambaram
CHIDAMBARAM: A 16-year-old Class XI student was stabbed by a stalker at her home in Keelamoongiladi near Chidambaram on Sunday, police said.
The accused, identified as Ayappan, 28, an electrician from C. Mutlur, allegedly entered the victim's house when she was alone. According to police, Ayappan had been stalking the girl for a long time. On Sunday, he reportedly asked her to marry him. When she refused, he took out a knife and stabbed her in the neck and other parts of her body before fleeing.
Hearing the girl's screams, neighbours rushed to the spot and took her to the Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Her condition is reported to be stable.
The Chidambaram Taluk Police have registered a case and are investigating. No arrests have been made so far.
The incident highlights the ongoing issue of stalking and violence against women, even in rural areas. Authorities urge citizens to report such behaviour immediately.
