Surat Hoax Bomb Threat: Accused Sought Fame as Influencer
The Surat police have arrested a 36-year-old diamond factory worker for sending a hoax bomb threat to the Surat district court on July 13. The accused, identified as Raman Rambabu Mishra, allegedly used his friend's mobile phone to send the threatening email. Police also recovered a draft email addressed to the Supreme Court from his own device.
Mishra, a native of Darbhanga district in Bihar, has been living in Surat for the past decade and works as a diamond polisher and cutter. According to police officials, he aspired to become a social media influencer. Over the last three weeks, he had mostly stayed at home with his wife and children, spending considerable time on YouTube.
The hoax threat caused a brief security scare at the Surat district court, prompting a thorough search that eventually found no explosive devices. The police investigation traced the email to Mishra's friend's phone, leading to his arrest. Further inquiries are ongoing to ascertain his motives and any possible connections.
