Sprinter Gurindervir Singh Exits Commonwealth Games 100m After Slow Heat

India's fastest man, Gurindervir Singh, was eliminated from the men's 100 metres event at the Commonwealth Games after clocking 10.39 seconds in the heats, placing him 28th overall. Only the top 17 athletes advanced to the next round.

The 25-year-old from Punjab started well and stayed close to Jamaica's Rohan Watson, but faded in the final 30-35 metres. Watson won the heat in 10.13 seconds, with Gurindervir finishing second. Watson ranked ninth overall and advanced to the semifinals.

Gurindervir's time of 10.39 seconds was well off his personal best of 10.09 seconds, a national record he set at the Federation Cup in Ranchi in May. That performance made him the first Indian to run under 10.10 seconds.
