Sonam Wangchuk Moved to Safdarjung Hospital After 20-Day Indefinite Fast
Climate activist and education reformist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi on Thursday after being on an indefinite fast for 20 days. His health had reportedly deteriorated, prompting the move from a protest site near the India Gate.
Wangchuk, a prominent figure from Ladakh, had been fasting to demand action on climate change and environmental protection. He is known for his work in education and sustainable development, including the creation of the Ice Stupa technique for water conservation.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital has been designated as the nodal centre for any medical emergency involving the protesters. Authorities have set up a medical team to monitor the health of all participants in the ongoing agitation.
The activist's condition is said to be stable but under observation. Supporters have gathered at the hospital, expressing solidarity with his cause. Further updates are awaited.
