Slain J&K Policeman's Family Gets Government Support After Terror Attack

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the family of slain head constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi on Friday, offering condolences and assuring government support for the education of the victim's son. Qureshi was killed in a terrorist attack in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on July 22.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also visited the family in Beerwah, Budgam, and reiterated the administration's commitment to their well-being. Sinha stated that the government will provide full support until the victim's son completes his studies and becomes eligible for a compassionate government appointment.

Qureshi, a head constable, was on duty for the Amarnath yatra when a terrorist opened fire on him in Anantnag market. The attack occurred on a busy street, and the assailant escaped. An investigation is underway.

Lieutenant Governor Sinha said the entire nation is proud of the policeman's courage and sacrifice. He urged the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to draw strength from the martyr's dedication and remain united against terrorism.
