Six killed, 20 injured as bus hits parked truck on Gujarat highway
Six persons lost their lives and approximately 20 others sustained injuries when a private luxury bus collided with a stationary truck on the Vadodara-Halol highway in Gujarat’s Vadodara district during the early hours of Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
The accident took place near Kotambi village around 4 a.m., according to police. The bus, en route from Rajasthan to Surat, struck the rear of the truck, which was parked on the roadside. Vadodara District Superintendent of Police Sushil Agrawal stated that the truck driver had halted to check tyre pressure at the time of the incident.
The force of the collision severely crushed the front portion of the bus. Six individuals died at the scene, and around 20 injured passengers were transported to nearby hospitals for medical care. A majority of the passengers on the bus were from Rajasthan, the official noted.
Police personnel from the Jarod police station in Vadodara rural arrived promptly after receiving information and initiated rescue operations. Given the extent of the damage to the bus, teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were also deployed to assist in the rescue efforts.
Authorities have confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to determine the precise circumstances leading to the crash. Further details are awaited.
