Shubman Gill Denies Rohit Sharma Retirement Rumours: 'No Such Discussion'

India captain Shubman Gill has stated that there has been no discussion with senior batter Rohit Sharma regarding his retirement from international cricket. Speaking at a press conference after India's loss in the second ODI against England, Gill said, 'He has not told us anything about it. There is no such discussion in the team.'

Reports earlier suggested that the selectors had informed the 39-year-old Rohit that the ongoing ODI series against England would be his last, with an eye on the 2027 World Cup. However, no official confirmation has come from either Rohit or the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Rohit, who scored 138 runs in the second ODI after two low scores in the first two matches, did not attend the post-match press conference. Captain Gill appeared instead, dismissing the retirement speculation as unfounded.

The former India captain has been in and out of form in recent months, but his century in the second ODI showed his ability to perform at the highest level. At 39, questions about his future are natural, but as of now, no decision has been communicated to the team or the public.

India will play the third ODI against England on Wednesday, and all eyes will be on Rohit's performance and any further statements from the team management.
