SGPC demands Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann's resignation over alleged viral video

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has passed a resolution demanding the immediate resignation of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, citing a viral video that they claim has caused outrage within the Sikh community.

The resolution, passed during a general house meeting on Saturday, directs that a First Information Report (FIR) be filed against Mann. SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami stated that the purported video represents a 'grave mistake' and asserted that Mann has 'lost the moral right to remain in office'.

Dhami read the resolution, noting that the video has 'caused massive outrage and anger across the entire Sikh world'. Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj was present at the meeting, underscoring the religious significance of the demand.

The video in question has not been independently verified by news agencies, and its content has not been disclosed in the resolution. The SGPC's call for resignation comes amid heightened political tensions in Punjab, where Mann's Aam Aadmi Party government has faced previous controversies.

As of this report, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has not issued a response to the SGPC's demand. The development adds to a series of confrontations between the state government and religious bodies in recent months.
