SBI Manager Assaulted: Former Union Minister's Daughter Booked by Chennai Police
The Adyar police in Chennai have registered a case against Kayalvizhi, daughter of former Union Minister M.K. Alagiri, following a complaint by a State Bank of India (SBI) official. The complaint alleges that Kayalvizhi, who owns the building housing the bank's NRI branch in Adyar, assaulted and threatened the branch manager.
According to the complaint filed on July 21 by Namachivayam, Chief Manager of SBI Regional Business Office-II, the branch manager Harsheen Singh had contacted Kayalvizhi regarding a faulty lift in the building. The complaint states that repeated requests to her representative to rectify the issue were not addressed.
It is alleged that Kayalvizhi subsequently visited the branch on an unspecified date, used abusive language against the manager, physically assaulted him, and issued threats. The police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS): Section 296(b) (uttering obscene words), Section 329(4) (penalty for house trespass), Section 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), and Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation).
An investigation is underway. No arrests have been reported as of now. The Adyar police confirmed that further details will emerge as the inquiry progresses.
