Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed that the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the last time he plays in the tournament. Speaking at a press conference ahead of Portugal's Round of 16 match against Spain, the 41-year-old stated, "Yes, it's my last one. Let's go and enjoy it."

Ronaldo is playing in his sixth World Cup and has yet to win the title. He scored a penalty in Portugal's group stage match against Croatia, helping secure their place in the knockout rounds. The press conference turned combative as Ronaldo called out journalists he claimed do not "like" him.

Portugal will face Spain in Dallas on Monday (Tuesday 12:30 am IST) in what could be Ronaldo's penultimate World Cup match if they lose. The veteran forward has not announced any plans to retire from international football after the tournament, stating he will decide on his future later.
