Revenue Inspector Arrested for Demanding ₹4,000 Bribe for Legal Heir Certificate
The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Tuesday arrested a Revenue Inspector for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹4,000 to issue a legal heir certificate.
The accused, Hemalatha, was posted at the V. Periyapatti revenue office. According to DVAC officials, a complainant named Easwari from Pampattipatti in Manapparai taluk had applied for a legal heir certificate. Hemalatha allegedly demanded ₹4,000 to process and recommend the certificate. Unwilling to pay the bribe, Easwari lodged a complaint with the DVAC in Tiruchi. Based on the complaint, DVAC officials set up a trap and arrested Hemalatha when she accepted the bribe from the complainant.
Further investigation is underway. The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by the DVAC to curb corruption in government offices.
