Revamped Incredible India Digital Platform to showcase tourist destinations globally
The Union Ministry of Tourism has intensified its digital outreach to promote tourist destinations across India, including Andhra Pradesh, through the revamped Incredible India Digital Platform (IIDP) and its official social media channels.
In a written reply to a question raised by member Sana Sathish Babu in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said the revamped IIDP has been developed as a comprehensive digital resource for travellers and tourism stakeholders. The platform offers detailed information on India's cultural heritage, natural attractions, and a wide range of tourism experiences, including cultural, heritage, adventure, gastronomy, wellness, arts and crafts, and rural tourism.
Shekhawat further noted that the platform provides real-time weather updates, city exploration tools, and essential travel information. A dedicated content hub enables the creation, sharing, and management of digital tourism assets, thereby improving the online visibility of destinations across the country.
The minister stated that the IIDP is available in Hindi, English, Russian, Spanish, French, Chinese, and Arabic, making it accessible to both domestic and international audiences. The platform also offers curated travel information and facilitates bookings for flights, hotels, cabs, buses, and tickets for monuments maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India through partnerships with online travel agencies and other stakeholders.
To further extend its digital reach, the ministry regularly promotes tourism destinations, products, and initiatives through its official social media channels. As part of its digital outreach strategy, it collaborates with influencers, including travel bloggers, YouTubers, and photographers, to showcase India's diverse tourism offerings and enhance their visibility.
The minister informed the House that these initiatives are expected to strengthen the digital discoverability of tourist destinations, including those in Andhra Pradesh, by combining multilingual content, digital storytelling, social media outreach, and technology-enabled travel services.
The move is seen as part of the government's broader effort to leverage digital tools to boost domestic and foreign tourism, which is a key driver of economic growth and employment in many states.
