Ranchi Woman Alleges Unprovoked Attack During Sansad Chalo; CRPF Denies Pellet Gun Use

A 32-year-old woman from Ranchi has alleged that security forces used excessive force during the Sansad Chalo march organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on July 20, resulting in a severe ear injury. Nootan Toppo, an employee of a private firm in Gurgaon, claimed that personnel from the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and plainclothes men carrying sticks launched an unprovoked lathi-charge on peaceful demonstrators demanding educational reforms to address the issue of paper leaks.

According to Toppo, who was participating with two friends, the security personnel lacked identification badges and plainclothes individuals used abusive language. She stated, “I had just taken a selfie moments before the firing started.” The woman is now recovering at her home in Ranchi and questioned the use of force against peaceful protesters.

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has issued findings that contradict public statements made by the Delhi Police. The Delhi Police had maintained that its forces did not possess or use pellet guns during the operation. However, the CRPF report suggests a different account, though details of its findings have not been officially released.

The CJP, a political party focusing on anti-corruption and educational reform, organised the march to draw attention to the problem of paper leaks in examinations. The protest was largely peaceful before the alleged confrontation with security forces. No official statement has been issued by the Delhi Police in response to the CRPF findings or Toppo's allegations.
