Ram Temple Theft Case: Trust Confirms Resignations of Top Officials as Probe Expands

The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust confirmed on Saturday that it has received resignation letters from its general secretary, Champat Rai, and trustee Anil Mishra, as the police investigation into an alleged theft of donations widens.

In a statement, the Trust said a decision on the resignations will be taken at its next meeting. The development comes amid a police probe into the alleged theft and embezzlement of funds and valuables donated to the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Rai’s former driver, Ram Shankar Yadav alias Tinnu Yadav, is among eight men arrested in connection with the case. The accused are currently in judicial custody and are scheduled to be produced before a Prevention of Corruption Act court on Monday.

According to police officials, seven of the eight accused have been found in possession of ₹79.80 lakh, which has been recovered. The investigation is ongoing, and further recoveries are expected.

The Trust, which oversees the construction of the Ram temple, has not commented on the specifics of the resignations. The arrests have raised questions about the security and management of donations at the temple site, which has attracted large contributions from devotees across the country.

Authorities have urged the public to remain patient as the probe continues, emphasizing that all accused are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
