Raja Muthupandi lifts silver in 65kg weightlifting, India's fourth medal at CWG 2026

Indian weightlifter Raja Muthupandi secured the country's fourth medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, winning silver in the men's 65kg category on the fourth day of competition in Glasgow. Muthupandi recorded a best snatch lift of 126kg and a clean and jerk of 160kg, for a total of 286kg.

Malaysia's Aznil Bidin took gold with a Games record total of 299kg, while Papua New Guinea's Morea Baru claimed bronze with 282kg at the SEC Armadillo venue.

The silver is India's third medal in weightlifting at these Games and the fourth overall. Earlier in the day, Rishikanta Singh won silver in the men's 60kg category. Mirabai Chanu later added a remarkable third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold in the women's 48kg event.

Muthupandi's success is particularly notable given the injuries and health setbacks he has faced in recent years. He secured his place in Glasgow by winning the national title and setting a new national record in the process.

The 2026 Commonwealth Games, held in Glasgow, Scotland, feature athletes from across the Commonwealth nations. India's medal tally continues to grow as the event progresses.
