Railway Suspends RPF Jawan After Viral Video of Clash with Officer at Agra Cantt
The Indian Railways has suspended a Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel following a viral video that allegedly showed him assaulting a Deputy Station Superintendent (Dy SS) at Agra Cantt station. The incident occurred after the Hirakund Express (train number 20808) from Amritsar to Visakhapatnam, which had arrived at the station at 10:51 hrs as per schedule, began departing and then stopped again shortly thereafter.
According to railway officials, a dispute arose between the RPF personnel and the Operations Department over the sudden halt. The viral video, widely shared on social media, appeared to show RPF staff behaving aggressively towards the Dy SS. The railways acted swiftly, suspending the personnel pending an inquiry.
The RPF is responsible for security on railway premises, while the Operations Department oversees train movements. Sources said that the disagreement may have stemmed from miscommunication regarding the train's departure protocol. An internal investigation has been ordered, and further disciplinary action may follow based on the findings.
Railway authorities have urged the public not to jump to conclusions and assured that due process will be followed. The suspended personnel has been asked to submit a written explanation. The incident highlights ongoing tensions between different departments within the sprawling railway network, which handles millions of passengers daily.
