Punjab Police arrests key operative of BKI module, recovers IED

The Punjab Police on Sunday said it had arrested a key operative of a module linked to the banned Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), which it claimed was sponsored by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and operated by foreign-based handlers. The arrest was made in Jalandhar.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the operation led to the recovery of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) containing 1.3 kg of explosive material, along with shrapnel and ball bearings. He stated that the device indicated preparations for a high-impact attack aimed at disturbing public peace.

The accused has been identified as Satbir Singh, a resident of village Padiana in Adampur, Jalandhar. Police also seized his motorcycle, which he was riding at the time of arrest.

Yadav reaffirmed the police force's commitment to dismantling terror networks, curbing organised crime, and maintaining peace and security in the state.
