Pune-Mumbai Expressway and Old Highway Closed After Landslide, Heavy Rains

Traffic on the Pune–Mumbai Expressway and the old Mumbai–Pune Highway has been suspended due to a landslide at Patan village near Lohgad Fort and continuous heavy rainfall on Monday, July 6, 2026.

A family is reported to be within the landslide impact area, and rescue operations are underway.

The traffic police have issued an appeal urging citizens to avoid all travel between Pune and Mumbai until further notice. “Those planning to travel are advised to postpone their journeys and follow the traffic advisories and updates issued by government agencies,” the advisory stated.

“We request your cooperation in the interest of public safety,” the advisory added. It noted that flood-like conditions have been reported on alternate routes, including areas in Maval and Tamini Ghat.

Authorities have closed the following routes until further instruction:

  • Pune Mumbai Expressway — between the connecting link and missing link due to the collapse of a concrete pillar.
  • Old Pune Mumbai Highway — due to overflowing water at certain points.

Citizens are advised to stay updated through official channels and avoid unnecessary travel.
