Pune Fort Murder: Police Uncover Call, Deleted Chats in Ketan Agarwal Case
The Pune Rural Police have uncovered new digital evidence in the murder of Ketan Agarwal, a 25-year-old man who was pushed off a cliff at Lohagad fort on June 18. According to sources, the primary accused, Siya Goyal, allegedly made a phone call to her lover and co-accused, Chetan Chaudhary, approximately 34 minutes before the incident.
Analysis of call detail records (CDR) and forensic examination of mobile devices revealed the call, which police believe was used to coordinate the murder. Sources indicate that during the call, Goyal reportedly informed Chaudhary of her exact location and confirmed that no other tourists were nearby.
Police also discovered that Goyal and Chaudhary deleted their WhatsApp and Instagram chats, as well as voice notes, spanning over three months. The cyber wing is working with forensic experts to recover this deleted data, which is expected to provide further evidence of premeditation.
The investigation suggests the murder was planned as early as the end of May. Sources claim that Goyal made a previous attempt on June 14, during which Agarwal saved himself by grabbing onto a bush. Goyal allegedly misled him by claiming she had pushed him accidentally while reacting to a snake.
On June 18, Chaudhary reportedly followed the couple to the fort to ensure the plan succeeded. The police are cross-referencing recovered data, location logs, and IP addresses to build a case of pre-planned murder under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
Ketan Agarwal and Siya Goyal were engaged and scheduled to marry in November. Goyal's brother told police that she met Chaudhary at cricket matches and later reconnected through a common friend. The investigation is ongoing.
