Pune Doctor Dies by Suicide at Under-Construction Site, Note Says No One Responsible
Pune, India – A 29-year-old woman doctor died after falling from the 24th floor of an under-construction building in Ravet on Friday, police said. The deceased has been identified as Dr Shweta Rokade, a resident of Latur district who was living in a rented apartment in Celestial City, Ravet.
According to Senior Police Inspector Hrishikesh Ghadge of the local police station, the incident occurred around 10 am. “Prima facie, it appears that Dr Rokade died by suicide by jumping from the 24th floor of the under-construction Astoria Royals building in Ravet,” he said. “She was a BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) doctor working as an intern at Birla Hospital.”
Police stated that a suicide note was recovered from the scene. “The deceased was unmarried. In the note, she has mentioned that nobody should be held responsible for her death,” Ghadge said. An accidental death report has been filed, and an inquiry is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the incident. Her family has been informed.
The police are investigating the matter further, and no arrests have been made. Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward. Dr Rokade's body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
