President Murmu to Make Historic First Visit to Moldova, Also Tour Romania and North Macedonia

President Droupadi Murmu will undertake a week-long state visit to Moldova, Romania and North Macedonia from July 19, the Ministry of External Affairs announced on Friday. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties with the Eastern European region.

This will be the first ever visit by an Indian President to Moldova. President Murmu will visit the country on July 20 at the invitation of President Maia Sandu. During her stay, she will hold delegation-level talks with President Sandu and meet Igor Grosu, the President of the Moldovan Parliament. She is also scheduled to interact with members of the Moldova-India Parliamentary Friendship Group, address a business forum, and meet members of the Indian community in Moldova.

The second leg of the tour will take President Murmu to North Macedonia on July 21 for a two-day visit. Further details of her engagements there, as well as her subsequent visit to Romania, are expected to be announced by the MEA shortly.

The visits are part of India's ongoing efforts to deepen political and economic cooperation with countries in Eastern Europe. The Ministry emphasised that these trips reflect India's commitment to strengthening ties with the region.
