PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana to Launch on June 19

Published on: 17 Jun 2026, 01:11 PM

The Central Government is set to launch the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY) on June 19. The scheme aims to provide a dual incentive structure, benefiting both first-time formal employees and employers who create additional jobs. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally launch the disbursal of incentives during an event in Delhi, scheduled for 4 p.m.

Under the PMVBRY, newly formal employees are eligible for a cumulative incentive of up to ₹15,000, while employers can receive up to ₹3,000 per month for each new job created over and above the baseline. These financial incentives are intended to encourage formalization of the workforce and stimulate job creation across sectors. The total disbursal amount being released in this first tranche is ₹2,400 crore, which will directly reach the beneficiaries' bank accounts.

The launch event in Delhi will see the Prime Minister hand over symbolic cheques to some of the beneficiaries, marking the commencement of the scheme's operations. The government has stated that this initiative is part of a broader vision to propel India towards becoming a developed nation (Viksit Bharat) by boosting employment opportunities and providing social security to workers through the formal economy.

Simultaneously, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation’s (EPFO) Tirunelveli Regional Office will organise a parallel event at Sri Vaari Hall in NGO ‘B’ Colony, Tirunelveli, to disburse incentives to local beneficiaries. This regional event will ensure wider participation and demonstrate the scheme's nationwide reach. A sizeable number of employers and employees from the region are expected to attend.

To qualify for the employee incentive, workers must be first-time EPFO subscribers with a monthly wage of less than ₹15,000. The incentive is paid in instalments directly into their bank accounts. For employers, the monthly subsidy is provided for each additional formal job created, requiring them to register with the EPFO and show an increase in their workforce relative to a reference period. The scheme places special emphasis on supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and lower-income workers.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment, in coordination with the EPFO, will oversee the scheme’s implementation. The government has assured that the process will be largely digital, utilising the existing EPFO portal for applications and disbursal. A live demonstration of the online claim submission process will be part of the Delhi launch event. A dedicated helpline and portal have also been set up to address queries from employers and employees.

In addition to the main events in Delhi and Tirunelveli, EPFO regional offices across the country will conduct awareness campaigns to educate potential beneficiaries. Informational materials in multiple Indian languages will be distributed to ensure widespread accessibility. The scheme is a centrally funded initiative and reflects the government’s commitment to generate employment and strengthen the formal economy.
