PM Modi to release 23rd instalment of PM-KISAN scheme on June 20 in West Bengal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 23rd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on June 20, 2026, in Tarakeswar, West Bengal. The event will see the direct transfer of ₹2,000 each to over 9.44 crore eligible farmers, totalling ₹18,880 crore, according to the Union Agriculture Ministry.
The Ministry stated that more than 2.18 crore women farmers will receive the benefit. Since the scheme's inception on February 24, 2019, the total amount disbursed has exceeded ₹4.46 lakh crore.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in a separate statement that in West Bengal, over 45.35 lakh farmers will receive ₹907 crore, bringing the total distributed under the scheme in the state to over ₹15,055 crore.
During the same event, the Prime Minister will also launch the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and the Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS). For the 2026-27 season, the target is to provide crop insurance coverage to 1.10 crore farmers on 30 lakh hectares of agricultural land, with crops worth ₹28,140 crore insured. Mr. Chouhan noted that the central and state governments will provide premium subsidies of approximately ₹777 crore.
