PM Modi Releases Kovind's Autobiography, Calls It a Lesson in Democracy
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday released the autobiography of former President Ram Nath Kovind, urging the younger generation to draw lessons from his life and struggles. The book, titled 'The Times of the Indian Republic: My Life, My Struggles,' was unveiled at an event in the national capital attended by the former president.
Speaking at the launch, PM Modi described the title as 'very apt.' He explained, 'The underlying message is that while his life and the struggles within it were personal, the triumph achieved as a result of those struggles belongs to the Indian Republic—to India's democracy.'
Modi encouraged the youth to read the book and learn from Kovind's experiences. 'Learn about Kovind ji's life journey in his own words. Let the new generation of the country read his writings and his experiences; everyone stands to learn a great deal from them,' he said.
Ram Nath Kovind, who served as the 14th President of India from 2017 to 2022, has had a remarkable journey. Born in a small village in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur Dehat district, he overcame significant social and economic barriers to become a lawyer and later a public servant. He served as a Rajya Sabha member from 1994 to 2006 and as Governor of Bihar from 2015 to 2017 before assuming the highest constitutional office.
His autobiography is expected to provide insights into his personal struggles and his vision for the nation. The title reflects the idea that an individual's perseverance ultimately contributes to the strength of the republic. This narrative aligns with the broader understanding of democratic institutions shaping personal destinies.
