PM Modi honours Kargil martyrs, urges rainwater conservation in Mann Ki Baat
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives in the 1999 Kargil war during his monthly radio address 'Mann Ki Baat' on Sunday, which also marked Kargil Vijay Diwas.
In his address, Mr. Modi said the day fills the nation with pride and serves as a reminder of the extraordinary courage of Indian soldiers. 'They dedicated everything to protect Mother India during the Kargil war. I pay my tributes to all valiant soldiers,' he said.
The Prime Minister also touched upon several other issues, including rainwater harvesting, India's performance at the Commonwealth Games, environmental challenges, and conservation efforts. He urged citizens to adopt rainwater harvesting to address water scarcity and highlighted the achievements of Indian athletes at the Commonwealth Games.
Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed on July 26 every year to commemorate India's victory over Pakistan in the 1999 conflict. The war, fought in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir, saw Indian forces recapture strategic positions infiltrated by Pakistani soldiers and militants.
