PIB Fact Check: No NEET PG Paper Leak in Jaipur, Re-exam on Sept 5
The Press Information Bureau's Fact Check unit on Wednesday dismissed social media claims that the NEET PG 2026 question paper was leaked in Jaipur, calling such assertions misleading. The unit clarified that no paper leak occurred and that the disruption reported at certain test centres was due to a technical power issue.
In a post on X, the fact check unit said: "Social media posts are claiming that the NEET PG exam question papers were leaked in Jaipur." It further clarified: "There has been no question paper leak in the NEET PG examination." The unit also explained that "technical disruptions were faced at test centres at iON Digital Zone iDZ Sitapura Centres, Jaipur, Rajasthan, caused due to internal power supply issues."
According to official information, a re-exam for the affected students will be conducted on September 5. Sources said a three-member committee has been constituted to probe the power failure at the Jaipur centres. The committee is expected to investigate the cause and suggest preventive measures.
The NEET PG 2026 examination, conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences, took place on August 30 in 1,111 centres across 339 cities, covering all 36 states and Union Territories. A total of 2,73,096 candidates were scheduled to appear, out of whom 2,65,980 actually took the test.
According to the official notice, the examination was successfully completed for approximately 2,63,535 candidates. This indicates that a relatively small number of candidates were affected by the technical disruptions at the two Jaipur centres. The re-exam on September 5 is intended for around 2,445 candidates from these centres, as per earlier announcements.
The NEET PG is the sole entrance examination for postgraduate medical education in India. Conducted in computer-based mode, it is known for its high stakes and rigorous selection process. The government's clarification is expected to reassure candidates that the examination process remains intact.
