Parliament Monsoon Session: Opposition to Meet, Four Key Bills Listed for Lok Sabha

The Monsoon Session of Parliament enters its 16th day on Monday, with the Lok Sabha slated to take up the introduction of four key bills, including the Tribunals Reforms Bill, 2026. The session continues amid persistent protests by Opposition MPs over the alleged Ram Mandir donation embezzlement and the police action against protesters in Delhi on July 20.

Floor leaders of Opposition parties in the Rajya Sabha are scheduled to meet in the chamber of the Leader of the Opposition, Mallikarjun Kharge, to devise their strategy for the day's proceedings. The meeting comes as the INDIA bloc MPs are expected to press their demand for a statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the police action, with Congress MP Manickam Tagore having moved an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha to this effect.

The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 is also expected to figure in the Opposition leaders' discussions. Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha has listed the introduction of the Tribunals Reforms Bill, 2026, the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, the Kerala (Alteration of Name) Bill, 2026, and the National Co-operative Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2026 for Monday.

On Friday, the Lok Sabha passed the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026 and the Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026. The government has maintained that these legislative changes are aimed at streamlining regulations and improving governance, while Opposition members have argued that several provisions need closer scrutiny.

The Monsoon Session has seen repeated disruptions, with opposition parties demanding answers on the alleged misappropriation of funds collected for the Ram Mandir construction. The government has denied any wrongdoing and accused the Opposition of stalling legislative business. As the session progresses, both sides are expected to continue their efforts to push their respective agendas, with key bills awaiting consideration.
