Paper Leak Suspected in Gujarat Ayurved University Exam for 2,000 Students
An examination conducted by the Gujarat Ayurved University (GAU) for over 2,000 Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) students is under investigation following suspicions of a question paper leak. The alleged leak came to light through a WhatsApp message, according to in-charge Vice-Chancellor Vd. Nareshkumar D Jain.
Speaking to local media, Jain said that the university's exam squad was at Shree Balahanuman Ayurved Mahavidyalaya in Mansa, Gandhinagar, when they received information about the WhatsApp message. He confirmed that approximately 2,000 students from 26 affiliated Ayurved colleges across Gujarat took the Shalya Tantra-1 examination on July 20.
The development comes amid nationwide protests over repeated exam paper leaks, which led to the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan earlier this month. The GAU has initiated a probe into the matter to determine the extent and source of the leak.
The Jamnagar-based university has been functioning without a full-time vice-chancellor since Mukul Patel's retirement in March 2025. Patel, appointed by the state government in March 2022, completed his three-year term. Following his retirement, the government appointed Vd. Nareshkumar D Jain, Principal of JP Government Ayurved College in Bhavnagar, as the in-charge VC in March 2025.
