Pakistan Terror Handler Ordered to Appear in NIA Court for Blasts That Killed 13
The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday executed a proclamation issued by a National Investigation Agency (NIA) court, directing Pakistan-based cross-border terror handler Mohammad Qasim alias Salman to appear before it on August 21. The order relates to the 2022-23 Katra and Narwal blasts that killed 13 people.
The court order was issued under Section 84 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (BNSS), which empowers a court to issue a written notice requiring an accused individual to appear before it.
Police officials confirmed that the proclamation was read out at Qasim’s residence in Angralla village in Reasi district. Qasim, who is believed to have crossed over to Pakistan, is wanted in multiple cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
The police have appealed to the public to share any credible information regarding Qasim’s whereabouts with the nearest police station. The Katra and Narwal blasts, which occurred in 2022 and 2023, resulted in the deaths of 13 individuals and left several others injured.
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the investigation, but the case remains under active scrutiny by the NIA. The proclamation is a legal step to compel the accused’s presence in court, and failure to appear could lead to further legal action.
