Pakistan orders arrest of illegal Afghan nationals from July 10

Pakistan's Ministry of Interior has issued directives for a nationwide operation against foreign nationals residing illegally in the country, specifically targeting Afghan citizens without valid visas. The operation is set to begin on July 10, 2026, according to an official notification released on June 28.

The notification instructs chief secretaries, inspectors general of police (IGPs) of all four provinces, and the Islamabad administration to strictly implement the Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Plan (IFRP). Provincial authorities are required to submit daily reports on arrests and enforcement actions to the Ministry of Interior starting July 11.

The government has described this operation as a top priority and has directed all relevant departments to ensure effective execution of the orders. The move comes amid ongoing discussions about the presence of undocumented foreigners in Pakistan, many of whom are Afghans who have lived in the country for decades.
