Padma Awards 2026: Mammootty and Alka Yagnik Among Recipients of Padma Bhushan

The second Civil Investiture Ceremony for the Padma Awards 2026 was held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday, June 23. President Droupadi Murmu presented the remaining awards, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in attendance.

Malayalam actor Mammootty received the Padma Bhushan from the President. He was accompanied by his wife Sulfath, son Dulquer Salmaan, and daughter Surumi.

Playback singer Alka Yagnik also received the Padma Bhushan. Battling a hearing loss disorder, she was escorted to the stage. Before receiving the award, she greeted Prime Minister Modi and touched his feet.

Among the Padma Shri awardees were Telugu actors Murali Mohan and Rajendra Kumar, and actor R Madhavan. Madhavan greeted PM Modi and touched his feet before receiving the award. The late actor Satish Shah, who died in October 2025, was also posthumously conferred a Padma Shri, accepted by his cousin Arvind Mamania.

The first Civil Investiture Ceremony on May 26 saw 66 Padma Awards presented. Late actor Dharmendra was honored with a posthumous Padma Vibhushan, accepted by Hema Malini. Advertising stalwart Piyush Pandey's wife accepted his posthumous Padma Bhushan, while actor-director Prosenjit Chatterjee received his Padma Shri.

The Padma Awards recognize contributions in fields such as art, social work, public affairs, science, trade, medicine, literature, sports, and civil service. In 2026, five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awards were given.
