New Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth Takes Charge, Unveils 'VIJAY' Modernisation Roadmap
General Dhiraj Seth assumed office as the 31st Chief of Army Staff on Wednesday, pledging to accelerate the modernisation of the Indian Army with renewed vigour to address evolving security challenges.
In his first address after taking charge, General Seth emphasised the need to build a technology-enabled, future-ready force capable of operating across multiple domains. He described the Indian Army as a combat-ready and battle-hardened force, prepared to meet all operational challenges.
The new Army Chief outlined his strategic priorities through the acronym 'VIJAY', where 'V' stands for Vigilance along borders and against emerging threats. The full roadmap is expected to focus on modernisation, jointness among services, and enhancing combat capabilities.
General Seth's appointment comes at a time when the Indian Army is undergoing significant transformation, with emphasis on indigenous equipment and network-centric warfare. His leadership will be crucial in addressing both conventional and hybrid threats along the northern and western borders.
