NEET Leak: Government Open to Debate but Firm on No Resignation

The Government on Tuesday signalled its willingness to discuss the NEET leak issue in Parliament, while categorically rejecting demands for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, calling them "political". Senior officials emphasised that the lapses have been addressed and admissions for major entrance exams remain on track.

This stance comes a day after protests over the controversy intensified at Jantar Mantar, leading to a police crackdown. Speaking on condition of anonymity, government functionaries told The Indian Express that the Centre has no intention of yielding to what it views as politically motivated calls for the minister's removal. They stressed that the Government has acknowledged the lapses and taken corrective measures.

"We have not denied the lapses nor attempted to evade responsibility," one official said. The Government is open to a thorough debate in Parliament, they added, signalling confidence in its handling of the situation.
