Nearly 80,000 Accept UG Seats in Delhi University's First Admission Round

New Delhi: In the first round of undergraduate admissions for the 2024-25 academic session, 79,404 candidates have accepted the seats allotted to them by the University of Delhi. The university’s admissions branch confirmed on Saturday that candidates had until 11:59 p.m. that day to confirm their acceptance.

The university had issued 93,033 seat allotments across 221 undergraduate programmes in 67 colleges on 18 July. This number exceeds the approximately 71,600 seats available, a practice followed in previous years to account for withdrawals and to reduce the number of admission rounds needed.

This year, the admission process is being conducted through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). A total of 2,18,284 candidates registered on the portal, out of which 2,08,043 completed the preference-filling stage.

As of the latest update, 10,746 candidates have paid the admission fee, while colleges have approved 26,061 candidates for payment after verifying their documents. Those whose documents have been verified must complete the fee payment by 21 July, according to university officials.

After paying the fee, candidates have two options: they can choose to 'freeze' their allotted seat, meaning they accept it and will not be considered in further rounds, or they can opt for an 'upgrade', which allows them to be considered for higher preferences in subsequent allocation lists.

The university has announced that the second allocation list will be released on 25 July. Candidates allotted seats in this round must complete the fee payment by 28 July. The academic session is scheduled to commence on 28 July.

No further admission rounds have been officially announced, but officials stated that a mid-entry round will be notified separately. The university has not yet disclosed the exact number of rounds planned for this year.
