Nearly 57% of 11.4 lakh forms in Karnataka seek corrections: Election officials
The Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has reported that between June 16 and July 29, over 11.40 lakh forms were received during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. These forms include requests for corrections, new voter inclusions, deletions, and address changes.
The largest share of submissions is Form-8, with over 7.74 lakh forms. Of these, 6.47 lakh (nearly 57% of total forms) seek correction of entries, while 90,349 are for shifting residence. Form-8 is also used for replacing EPIC cards or updating disability status.
Other forms include 3.32 lakh Form-6 for new voter inclusion, 30,696 Form-7 for deletion of names, and 2,783 Form-6A for overseas Indian citizens (NRIs).
The process has been overwhelmingly online, with only 331 forms submitted offline. Meanwhile, over 53.39 lakh voters have been marked as “permanently shifted” under the Absent, Shifted, Duplicate, Dead and Others (ASDDO) category, and 11.92 lakh as “absent or untraceable.”
CEO V. Anbu Kumar explained that voters are marked as shifted or absent if Booth Level Officers (BLOs) cannot locate them after three visits or if the address in the legacy roll differs from the 2025 electoral roll. All approved additions and corrections will be reflected in the final roll.
