Mysuru Student Groups Protest Police Action Against ‘Sansad Chalo’ March Participants

Members of the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) and allied organisations held a protest at Ramaswamy Circle in Mysuru on Tuesday, condemning the police lathi-charge and use of tear gas against participants of the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament.

AIDSO district president Chandrakala alleged that the protesting students and youth were demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in central examinations. She criticised the police for denying permission to the march despite advance notice, stating that the right to protest is a fundamental democratic right.

Chandrakala described the police action as undemocratic and appealed to students across the country to raise their voice against the crackdown and the Centre’s handling of the issue.

All India Mahila Samskrutika Sanghatane (AIMSS) district vice-president Seema demanded the immediate resignation of the Union Education Minister, alleging failure to ensure transparency in central examinations. She also condemned the alleged police excesses against women protesters.

All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) district president Sunil called the police action a “brutal attack” on students and youth, and alleged that the Centre was attempting to suppress protests over the alleged NEET question paper leak. He called for the abolition of the National Testing Agency (NTA), alleging it had failed to conduct examinations fairly.

AIDSO district secretary Nitin, along with office-bearers of AIDSO, AIDYO, and AIMSS, and students from various colleges, participated in the demonstration.
