Mysuru Groups Demand Education Minister's Resignation Over NEET Paper Leak

On July 20, multiple organisations including the Mysuru University Research Scholars' Association, Federation of Dalit Students, Dalit groups, and farmers' organisations held a one-day hunger strike at Gandhi Bhavan on the University of Mysore campus. They were supporting educationist Sonam Wangchuk, Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke, and others in demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the abolition of the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The protest was triggered by allegations of a paper leak in the NEET-UG examination, which the demonstrators claim has affected lakhs of students. They called for a thorough overhaul of the country's examination system to ensure transparency and accountability.

Protesters alleged that several students have died by suicide due to the examination controversy, and criticised the NDA government for not removing the Education Minister. They stated that the Cockroach Janta Party has been mobilising Gen Z youth with a vision for educational reforms and has unsettled those in power. They appealed for public support to their movement, which they said offers hope to students seeking a fair system.

The Union Education Ministry has stated that an investigation into the paper leak is underway and that it is committed to maintaining the integrity of examinations. No official statement has been made regarding the resignation demand.
