Mumbai-Gujarat Rail Corridor Restores Normalcy After Flood Disruptions

Rail services on the flood-hit Mumbai-Gujarat corridor largely returned to normal on Saturday, with the Western Railway restoring operations of all major and premium trains. This follows two days of widespread cancellations triggered by heavy rainfall and waterlogging.

While train movement has resumed across the route, several trains experienced minor delays as the network recovered from the disruption. In a sign of normalcy, the morning Vande Bharat Express trains departing from Mumbai Central and Gandhinagar Capital completed their journeys, reaching their respective destinations with delays of about an hour. The afternoon Vande Bharat trains from both cities were scheduled to run as per regular schedule on Saturday.

During the disruption, several non-governmental organisations, religious and community groups, and industrial units volunteered to distribute refreshments among stranded passengers. This community effort provided relief to those affected by the cancellations.

The restoration of services marks a significant step in returning to normal operations after the heavy rains that caused waterlogging and forced the suspension of train services on this vital corridor.
