Mumbai Chembur school bus accident: One student dead, 10 injured after tree collapse
A tragic incident occurred in Mumbai's Chembur area on [date] when a large tree fell onto a school bus, resulting in the death of one student and injuries to at least 10 others. The bus, carrying 13 children, was travelling on Road No. 11 when the tree collapsed.
The injured students were rushed to nearby hospitals, with some admitted to Jain Hospital and four others undergoing treatment at Zen Hospital. Several of the injured are reported to be in serious condition. Rescue teams are currently working to free one child who remains trapped under the tree.
Local residents have alleged that they repeatedly wrote to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) requesting that the tree be trimmed or removed, citing a similar incident in the area in the past. Despite multiple warnings, no action was taken.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy showers and thunderstorms for Mumbai and its suburbs today, which may have contributed to the tree's collapse.
Authorities are investigating the incident, and the BMC has been asked to provide a report on the tree's condition and any previous complaints.
