Multiple Injured in Shooting at Seattle Food Festival, Police Investigate
Several people have been injured in a shooting at a food festival in Seattle, United States, according to police. The incident occurred near the city's iconic Space Needle during the annual Bite of Seattle festival.
The Seattle Police Department stated on social media that officers are investigating the shooting and that multiple victims have been reported. They urged people to avoid the area and said more information would follow.
Victims were transported to Harborview Medical Centre, as reported by the Seattle Times. The festival, which features hundreds of local vendors and live music, was ongoing at the time of the shooting.
Social media footage captured the moment shots were heard, showing attendees fleeing the venue. Witnesses told CNN affiliate KOMO that at least seven to eight shots were fired, and people were running in all directions.
Estan Wakonabo, a 25-year-old attendee, described the scene as chaotic, with people trampling each other. He later returned to the area and saw several gunshot victims on the ground, including one covered with a yellow sheet.
Authorities have not confirmed any fatalities at this time. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been reported.
