Modi Congratulates Trump on US 250th Independence, Highlights Shared Democratic Values

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended his warm congratulations to President Donald Trump and the people of the United States on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of American Independence. In a post on social media platform X, Modi stated that the friendship between India and the United States is rooted in a shared belief in democracy and the rule of law.

“On behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, I extend my warmest congratulations to President Trump and the people of the United States on the historic 250th anniversary of your Independence,” Modi wrote. He further noted that the limitless potential of the two peoples makes the bilateral partnership a force for global good.

Modi expressed optimism for the future, saying, “May the next 250 years bring even greater prosperity, peace and progress for America and take the India-U.S. partnership to new heights.”

The 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, one of the most celebrated documents in democratic history, is being marked with various festivities across the United States. President Trump is scheduled to address the nation at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., followed by a large fireworks display over the capital.

India and the United States have maintained a strategic partnership spanning decades, with cooperation in areas such as defence, trade, technology, and climate change. The relationship has grown significantly in recent years, with both sides emphasising shared democratic values and mutual interests.

Observers note that Modi’s message underscores the importance of the Indo-U.S. relationship in the context of global geopolitics. The two countries have increasingly coordinated on issues such as security in the Indo-Pacific region, counterterrorism, and economic collaboration.
