Mira Road Crane Collapse: One Dead, Two Injured in Construction Accident

A construction crane collapsed from the 11th floor of an under-construction building in Mira Road, Mumbai, on Thursday, July 16, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. The accident took place at JP North Society around 8:30 pm when the crane, which was in operation, lost balance and crashed to the ground.

Senior Inspector Rahul Patil of Kashi Gaon police station said the crane operator, who also sustained injuries, likely lost control. “The crane was operational and it appears the operator lost balance due to which the crane fell off the 11th floor,” Patil said. The operator is reported to be a young man.

The police are investigating the exact cause of the collapse. An FIR will be registered after the investigation is complete. The injured and deceased have been taken to a local hospital. Authorities have cordoned off the area as a safety measure.

Construction site accidents, particularly involving cranes, have raised concerns about safety protocols in the region. However, officials have not indicated any negligence at this stage. Further updates are expected as the investigation proceeds.
