MEA: Pakistan's Gen Z Should Note India's Awareness of Cross-Border Terrorism

India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday stated that Pakistan continues to promote cross-border terrorism as a state policy. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that people of India, including the younger generation known as Gen Z, are aware of Pakistan's support for terrorism against India, and suggested that Pakistan's Gen Z should take note of this.

Speaking at the bi-weekly media briefing, Jaiswal was responding to a question about online support from Pakistani social media users for a recent protest by the Cockroach Janta Party at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. He said, 'As we are all aware, Pakistan has been sponsoring cross-border terrorism against India for decades. The people of India, including Gen Z, have been demanding that the Pakistani state-sponsored cross-border terrorism must come to an end. We hope their counterparts are taking due note.'

The protest at Jantar Mantar drew solidarity and commentary from some Pakistani social media users. Officials noted that such online expressions are unlikely to affect the currently frozen state of bilateral relations between India and Pakistan.

They pointed out that India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty after the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack. Bilateral ties remain frozen, they said, due to Pakistan's continued support for cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

Referring to Pakistan's attempts to present itself as the inheritor of the ancient Indus Valley Civilisation, Jaiswal said that as a supporter of terrorism, Pakistan cannot claim a 'pluralistic cultural legacy' like that of the Indus Valley Civilisation. He added that Pakistan's 'abysmal track record on the protection of minorities and their cultural rights makes such desperate attempts look even more phoney.'

The remarks underscore the strained relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, with India consistently accusing Pakistan of sponsoring terrorism, a charge that Islamabad denies.
