Mbappe Wins Golden Boot Again; Spain Sweep Other FIFA World Cup Awards

Kylian Mbappe has won the Golden Boot award for the second consecutive World Cup, leading the goal-scoring charts at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with 10 goals. The French striker edged out closest rival Lionel Messi, who finished the tournament with 8 goals and failed to score or assist in the final against Spain.

Mbappe's achievement marks the second straight time he has claimed the Golden Boot over Messi, having won the prize at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with seven goals, one more than the Argentinian.

The other individual awards were largely swept by the World Cup-winning Spanish team. Goalkeeper Unai Simon received the Golden Glove after conceding only one goal throughout the entire tournament. Midfielder Rodri was named the player of the tournament and awarded the Golden Ball. Defender Pau Cubarsí was elected as the best young player.

The 2026 World Cup, hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, saw Spain emerge as champions after defeating France in the final. The tournament featured an expanded format with 48 teams.
