Mangaluru Landslip: Three Dead, Including Two Girls; Rescue Operations Underway

At least three persons, including a woman and two girls, lost their lives after a landslip struck Naguri in Mangaluru on Wednesday (July 1, 2026). The incident occurred beside a residential tile-roofed house under the Kankanady police station limits.

Rescue workers, including personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), promptly reached the spot. They successfully rescued a male and two girls who were trapped under the debris. The survivors have been hospitalised and are reported to be stable.

The landslip followed heavy rainfall in the region, which has been experiencing monsoon showers for the past few days. Officials have warned of continued rain and advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the landslip, but preliminary reports suggest soil saturation due to persistent rain may have triggered the collapse. The district administration has announced ex gratia relief for the families of the deceased.

Further details regarding the identities of the victims and the condition of the survivors are awaited. Police have cordoned off the area to prevent any further accidents.
